Welcome to Teachers Cameroon
Who We Are
“Teachers” is a non-governmental organisation created by Acknowledgement Receipt No 027/ACK/E32/BAPP of 2nd May 2012. It is an association for teachers which aims at solving education related problems both within and without the school environment with teachers as the main actors.
How We Work
In order to implement this ideology in schools “Teachers” adopted a child-to-child philosophy which brought about the creation of friendship and peace clubs in schools to promote tolerance, living together and peace in a bit to integrate traumatized children and make them feel normal but not special or different. The clubs though managed with the guidance of teachers are run by the pupils.

Our Objectives
Fight against illiteracy at school-going age in Cameroon (including street children)
Ensure access to education by children who are disaster victims.
Fight against child exploitation and child abuse in and out of the school environment.
Provide information on all issues related to education in Cameroon
Fight against discrimination of all sorts in the education sector and promote excellence in the school system
Ensure equal access to education by the girl child
Provide alternative but complementary ways of solving problems in an attempt to help the Government solve education related problems in Cameroon.
Fight against HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and other health related hazards for children of school-going age in and out of school
Improve on the professional growth of teachers of both public and private sectors through constant capacity building workshops with technical and funding partners.
Our Achievements So Far
Since 2019, within the context of the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West of Cameroon and in the Far North Region where there a raging war agains tthe Islamic sect Biko Haram, “Teachers” together with SIL Cameroon saw the dire need to initiate the trauma healing and management ideology in order to train and sensitization the stakeholders involved with the view of curbing further future violence.
Both associations immediately embarked on the training of members of “Teachers” who would in turn be trainers to help spread this ideology across the education sector especially the Basic and Secondary. It should be noted that “Teachers” has a membership of over 80 made up of teachers of Basic, Secondary and Higher Education of both English and French background.
Seminars Organized
These seminars held in Yaoundé, Obala, Mbalmayo, Kribi and Bafia and handled themes such as:
- Trauma and Young Children- a Caring Approach
- Caring for school Children after a traumatic event
- Understanding Trauma and its Effects
- Using of Stories in the Trauma Healing Process
- 5. Trauma Healing and psychosocial support just to name a few.
The trained 80 members of our association with the knowledge and skills acquired from the expertise of Mr Ambassa Apollinaire and Alain Vaissoum from SIL-Cameroon, descended to the fields and started from their respective schools, then they went to pedagogic seminars across the Centre Region and spread this knowledge and this has impacted over 5000 teachers. The sensitization is now geared towards parents and other regions.
